Intelligent sensors have become a necessary trend
With the development of science and technology, all industries cannot do without the word "intelligence", from intelligent industry, intelligent agriculture, intelligent transportation, to different fields such as intelligent logistics and intelligent security. The demand for intelligence in various fields is essentially the continuous enhancement of information needs. Sensors have become one of the important electronic devices that urgently need to be developed, especially intelligent sensors that can collect, process, analyze, and transmit information. In information consumption, accuracy, timeliness, and wide coverage of information sources are the foundation, and sensors are one of the important media among them. Traditional sensors can meet this demand, but they are unable to analyze and process information, which is fatal for performance intensive electronic components. Therefore, smart sensors have emerged.
Intelligent sensors tightly integrate sensors and microprocessors through process technology, integrating the sensitive components and signal conditioning circuits of sensors with microprocessors on a single chip. This can be called a sensor with preliminary intelligence. Intelligent sensors combine ASIC circuits, microprocessors, communication interfaces, software protocols, etc. with sensitive chips to fully utilize the sensing information of sensitive chips. Integration, miniaturization, multifunctionality, intelligence, and networking are the development trends of sensors, but integration and miniaturization are the foundation of this trend. Only integration and miniaturization technologies can achieve low cost, low power consumption, high performance, multifunctionality, intelligence, and networking.
At present, intelligent sensors are a hot topic and frontier in international sensor research. The main bottleneck for the development of the domestic sensor industry towards miniaturization and integration is the insufficient capacity of China's IC and MEMS technology industry chain. There is a significant gap compared to international advanced technologies in terms of technical quality, production capacity, and production scale. Vigorously conducting research on intelligent sensors is a leapfrog development strategy that China should adopt, a key measure to occupy the commanding heights of future information technology, and also a trend for sensor development.
